Dream Team Poker at Caesars in Las Vegas

I just returned from the next biggest thing in poker - Team Poker!

Dream Team Poker had their second event last weekend in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace Casino and Hotel....

The poker room and tournament staff were by far the most professional staff I have ever been around - Jim Pedulla knows how to run a poker room....

The event was kicked off with a cocktail party where players could pick up their team jersey's and rub shoulders with the likes of Phil Hullmuth, Carina and Chip Jett, Marsha Wagner, Kenna James, Jamie Gold, Joe Sebok, Kat Kowal, etc...

This event was not only a blast to work but all of the players had a fantastic time!

I posted a photo of my favorite player above and I can't wait until their next event.

Poker and Marijuana

I found this article on Casino Gambling about how actor Steve Martin told David Letterman in a recent interview about how he one night took an Ambien and played poker for money on the Internet. Steve Martin

admitted that he enjoyed the game of poker, but claimed that he is no longer playing when it became illegal.

This immediately reminded me of Clinton informing everybody that he tried marijuana once but that he did not inhale. I hope that Michael Phelps
doesn't get into any more trouble for admitting that he tried marijuana.

The only problem with Steve's comment is that online poker is not illegal in the US. His perception is shared by many people, even though it is incorrect. The Poker Players Alliance has been fighting for years to have poker exempt from the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. The law prohibits all forms of gambling online in games of chance. Poker is not a game of chance, poker is a game of skill and therefore is not covered by UIGEA rules.

Judges in both Colorado and Pennsylvania have ruled that the game of poker is one of skill. The judges each threw out charges against people who were being tried for illegal gambling involving poker. The judges' rulings have solidified poker players beliefs and have caused an increase in customers sign ups at popular online poker sites.

While Martin said in the interview that he would never again take Ambien, the good news for him is that if wants to take up Internet poker in the future, he can do so without the worry of doing anything illegal.

Mexico LAPT PokerStars event Suspended

The PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour's Nuevo Vallarta main event has been suspended prematurely and indefinitely at the Marival Grand and Club Suites in Mexico this weekend.

Day 1 of the second event on the LAPT's second season was proceeding smoothly into the night, with 89 of the original 242 runners still in contention with 46 minutes left in the ninth and penultimate level of the evening when tournament director Mike Ward called an unscheduled stop to the action at about 10:30 p.m. CT on Friday evening.

A few minutes later, all players were asked in Spanish to leave the tournament room and shortly after that, the media, TV crews and dealers were evicted as well, sending the entirety of LAPT contingent out into the ante chambers of the Marival resort with little information as to why or for how long their play had been suspended.

Four hours later, the answers are still unclear as we await official comment from PokerStars.

Apparently PokerStars and LAPT officials still in heavy negotiations with local government and gaming officials and nothing as yet resolved, Ward instructed his players to return on Saturday at noon C.T. for word as to whether the tournament will continue as planned or whether alternate arrangements will have to be made. At the time of writing, no indication had been given as to what those alternate arrangements might be.

It was a bizarre and rather startling interruption in what had been up to that point a relatively exciting LAPT event. Team PokerStars pros Greg Raymer and Victor Ramdin were leading a contingent of survivors that included Maria "Maridu" Mayrinck, Alex Brenes, Gualter Salles and LAPT2 Costa Rica champ Ryan Fee, while fellow pros Andre Akkari, Alexandre Gomes and Humberto Brenes numbered among the ranks of those already eliminated.

Meanwhile stick with PokerListings.com for full coverage of this developing story as they get to the bottom of this extremely unusual situation.

Bailout Solution for the Big 3 Automakers

I'm happy to see that congress is not bailing out the Big 3 Automakers for many reasons that I won't get into as my goal with this blog is to present a simple solution to fix this problem.....

The oil companies should provide the money to bail them out.....They are making record profits and they have the most to gain or loose by the success or failure of these companies.....

It's pretty simple actually......
